TED WATHEN
PARTNER / PHOTOGRAPHER

Ted began photographing as an undergraduate at the University of Virginia where he earned a BA in history.  Upon graduation he was commissioned as a Naval Officer. After completing Naval duty, Ted enrolled at the University of Florida, graduating with an MFA degree in photography.

Wathen founded the original Kentucky Documentary Photographic Project and was subsequently a Principal Photographer for the President’s Commission on Coal. Ted co-founded Quadrant photography in 1986.

Ted has maintained an artistic career paralleling his commercial photography.  His exhibits include major installations at The Speed Museum, The Frazier History Museum, The George Eastman Museum, The International Center of Photography, The Smithsonian American Art Museum and The White House. 

Wathen’s work is included in many private, corporate and institutional collections including: The University of Louisville Photographic Archives, the Kentucky Historical Society, The Frazier History Museum, The George Eastman Museum, The Smithsonian American Art Museum and The National Archives.
